Natural Movement

• The point of movement is to enjoy dexterous, sustainable movement for life. In increasing your body awareness you will know more what type of movement you need at the moment. If you sense that you are tight and bound within parts of the body well then you will create ease and lengthening and visa versa. Self-created body dysfunction arises when we are not in honoring what the body needs in the moment, this is why awareness of the body is primary and prescribed training programs are secondary.

• It’s relatively easy to move your body or to do rudimentary exercise, what is difficult is sustaining the enjoyment, a heightened state of aliveness – complete presence in movement.

• Only with conscious movement can there be sustained enjoyment, otherwise its considered to be “work or a means to an end” = non-enjoyable. Thus it’s best to focus on your state of movement rather than the type of movement in itself. All movement practices have something great to offer but instead of getting to caught up on what practice you should do perhaps it better to consider which movement practice gets you into your inner body most, experiment.
